Geoff "Tangletongue" Mack Memorial
Mon 21st August 2017

On Monday 21st August a group of people mostly from the world of entertainment gathered to say a farewell to, and to celebrate the life of one of Australia's greats, the one and only, Geoff Mack. We gathered at the Canterbury-Hurlstone Park RSL Club where proceedings were commenced by John Charter with his opening address before introducing Father John Spora who gave us a short talk before offering a prayer for Geoff to our Lord, Jesus Christ followed by speakers from the top entertainment groups in Australia.

ARROWS - Echidnas - Debonairs -Galahs - ALVA and the MO - Awards

Speakers’ representees were:

ARROWS;                 Alan Dale
Mo Awards;              Warren Kermond
ALVA; Queen Bee    Susie Smither
Echidnas;                  Greg Hayes
Galahs;                      Bobby Bradford
Debonairs;                Frank Ifield

To our surprise Chad Morgan hit the stage dressed in an outrageously bright apple green suit, cowboy boots and his legendary hat and teeth, setting the mood by making a special contribution to the afternoons proceedings with two of his famous comical songs dedicated to his great mate.
The last speaker on the day was a very personal friend; Mary Schneider
All was followed by a standing ovation and toast to the memory of ‘The Great Man’ GEOFF ‘TANGLE TONGUE’ MACK - OAM’ and a video with Lucky Starr singing ‘I’ve Been Everywhere Man’.

This meeting of the six Sydney Entertainment Groups to send off Geoff was historical in its own rite.
It was the first time under the one roof that we all gathered together for this auspicious, iconic occasion.

Many thanks to
Canterbury Hurlstone Park management and Virginia, who supplied the room, Will on tech.- Chris and Liz Bond for their efforts in bringing Chad down from Qld and Chris’ Power Point. - Sandra Erdman for all the photos. - All the speakers. - Alva girls who welcomed the guests - Jan Salmi who flew in from the Gold Coast to be there for her uncle Geoff – Katz, Geoff and Tabbi’s helper who attended and also brought a Power Point.- Alan Townsend who offered his stretch limo to pick up Chad from the airport and return him the same day.

A big thank you to all the groups that contributed funds for the day – You know who you are.

Last but not least, thank you all who attended on the day and made it an exemplary and beautiful occasion.
